While the village is still asleep and the woods are dark, the truffle hunter is already on his way. For one morning, you follow him and his dogs until daylight arrives.
This is not a walk designed for visitors: it is a real working morning in the woods of Savigno, shared with no more than two guests.
No immediate payment and no commitment: we reply personally and check together whether the experience is right for you.
The guest follows the truffle hunter, not the other way around
Our family has worked with truffles in the hills of Savigno for over thirty years. This experience comes from one clear idea: we did not adapt truffle hunting to the visitor. For one morning, the visitor follows the truffle hunter's rhythm.
The route is not chosen to be comfortable or touristy. The search goes wherever it leads, through woods, uphill and downhill, as the darkness slowly gives way to the light of morning.

One morning, from darkness to light
An hour before dawn
We meet and set off while it is still night. The truffle hunter and his dogs lead the way.
About four hours in the woods
You walk alongside him through the places he usually goes, listening to stories, observations and knowledge built over years of searching: the seasons, the silences, the signs of the forest.
Coffee in the woods
At some point, we stop: a hot coffee made with a moka pot, among the trees. A simple gesture, the one that goes with an ordinary morning of searching.

A demanding experience, on purpose
The route lasts about four hours and may cross uneven, steep and rugged terrain, in the dark and then in the first light.
Good stamina, agility and fitness are required, along with footwear and clothing suited to the woods. It is not an experience for everyone, and that is why we talk it through together before confirming.

How many people can take part?
The experience is designed for one or two guests, so that we can walk at the pace of the truffle hunter and the dogs without disturbing the search. The price of €350 is the same for one person or for two.
Where do we meet?
The experience takes place in the woods of the hills around Savigno, in the Bologna Apennines. The meeting point and the exact start time are shared when we confirm.
When can I take part?
The experience follows the truffle season, ground conditions and the truffle hunter's availability. The start time changes with the sunrise, so the date must always be checked together.
Do I need to be physically fit?
Yes. You walk for about four hours on natural terrain, including steep and rugged ground. Please tell us honestly about your level of fitness, so we can decide together whether this is the right experience for you.
What should I wear?
Dress in layers suited to early-morning temperatures, and wear hiking boots or sturdy shoes with good grip. In case of rain or damp ground, waterproof footwear is recommended.
Is there a minimum age?
The experience is recommended for ages 16 and over: walking for about four hours on steep, uneven terrain, starting in the dark, is too tiring for younger children. For teenagers, please tell us their age and fitness level so we can decide together.
Which languages is it offered in?
We also welcome international guests. When you get in touch, let us know your preferred language.
What happens in bad weather?
The search takes place outdoors. If the weather is unsuitable, we will agree on a new date together.
