Tasty crostini with friggione, mozzarella and fresh basil

Ingredients

  • sliced homemade bread (about 1 cm thick)
  • 1 jar of artisanal Bolognese friggione Lina Sapori e Delizie
  • fresh mozzarella (fior di latte or buffalo mozzarella)
  • fresh basil to taste
  • extra virgin olive oil to taste
  • salt and black pepper to taste

Preparation

  1. lightly toast the bread slices on a grill, in the oven, or in a pan until golden and crispy
  2. if you prefer warm friggione, gently heat it in a pan over low heat or in a double boiler
  3. arrange the toasted bread slices on a serving plate
  4. generously spread the friggione on each slice of bread
  5. slice the mozzarella thinly and arrange it on top of the friggione
  6. drizzle with a little extra virgin olive oil, a pinch of salt (if needed, the friggione might already be seasoned), and a grind of black pepper
  7. decorate with fresh basil leaves
  8. serve the crostini immediately to best enjoy the contrast between the warm (or lukewarm) bread, the flavorful friggione, and the fresh mozzarella.

Tips

  1. for a more indulgent touch, you can put the crostini in a hot oven for a few minutes until the mozzarella melts and is slightly golden
  2. if you like, you can rub a garlic clove on the toasted bread slices before adding the friggione.

Enjoy your meal!
